Guess What I Ate..

I caved. I saw a sign, and I fell for it hook, line, and sinker.

Krispy Kreme in my area is now offering whole wheat doughnuts. Yes, you heard me right. Whole. Wheat. Doughnuts.

Deep Fried Health Food!!!

We drove through Krispy Kreme intending to get a decaf and a free hot'n'now using our Valentine's Day Krispy Kreme card. We left with the coffee and a mixed dozen of regular and whole wheat doughnuts.

And you know what? They're GOOOOOOODDD!!! Have kind of a brown sugar flavor to them. Wonder if they're whole grain? Any idea of the fiber content of a whole wheat doughnut?

    I read something on the web about them saying the nutritional value wasn't much better than the regular ones. Drats! lol

    Our nearest Krispy Kreme is an hour drive away. That is a good thing for both the wallet and the waistline.

    Nutrition and KK in the same entry.. LOL...

    I just realised that the last time we went to Wheeling we didn't go to KK for coffee (they normally hand out free hot doughnuts that I scarf one of). We didn't this time.

    While I pass a KK on the way to my BF's (its slightly off the route but less than a 1/4 mile I've never stopped there other than the one time I used their "facilities" and snuck out without buying anything.

    Lucky for me we don't have a Krispy Kreme closer than 150 miles from us! When we go to the city, though, we ALWAYS have Krispy Kreme for breakfast!

    I love donuts, but I find KK to be too greasy. However, I would like to try the whole wheat

    KK is awesome... especially when their "HOT" sign is on. Mmm.

    Of course, it helps that I had a buddy who worked there once... and spoke of the dead rats, roaches, and their droppings they would constantly find in their sugar and flour.

    Yeah, it's a killjoy, but your health will thank me later for it. Big Grin

    you can't sway me, BA!!! i saw the krispy kreme special on the food channel, and i know that the flour/sugar/etc all comes pre-mixed from one main factory...

    but, i have it good authority: don't eat the chili at wendy's! EEK!
