Going Freelance: Got Samples

January 29th, 2007 at 06:05 pm

So, I went out this weekend and braved the cold and wind and got some pictures. As a side note, I also realized I really need to get a lens cleaning kit, but that's neither here nor there. Turns out, some of the pics that are posted online are even for the wrong house! Jeez Louise...

At any rate, I wanted to post a few and see if anyone (especially the house hunters among us!) would give some feedback from the perspective of a potential buyer. I'm including the realtor's name and contact number on the photo (and I'm debating about putting the MLS# on there too), which I think is a good idea but who knows if it'll fly... What do you think, would a buyer like that info placed on the photo as long as it doesn't obstruct anything?

Before & After
OK, the first house has a huge tree in the front yard, so the only viable way to shoot it is from an angle.

The other two houses are the ones where the wrong picture is currently posted online. WTF....

I think you've got a good thing here....I would hate to spend my lunch hour or something to go to a site and see the wrong house because the picture is wrong. It would waste the time of people with limited time. Also, I would be frustrated at not being able to see a good idea of what it looks like before I got there because the picture is so crappy. Keep it up, I think you'd be doing a good service!

I think your photos are great! I think having the MLS number on the photo itself is wonderful, I know when I bought my first house I made my own notebook with pictures of each house, address price and MLS number and then put several to a page with a space for notes under each one. I think you are onto a good thing here! Smile

I think your pictures are way better, and I hope you find a realtor that understands how important it is.

Oh yeah, if you don't have luck with the realtors, try offering thru maybe raigs list, for homesellers. or homebuyers if you have time.

You can say how important a picture is and for a fee take one of thier house like you would for the realtor.

And for the buyer you could offer to go take pictures of houses in the right range and they can look at those before they go themselves.

The pictures look great, and the MLS number would be helpful too. I agree with Perky though, don't forget about the For Sale By Owner fsbo people who might want a nice slick looking picture online or some nice brochures!

Those pictures are much better. Good job. I know when we sold our house I just loved the pictures our realtor took. She said it was the wide angled lens that made the interior picures look so good. We sold our house in 5 days with two competing offers and a home for sale next door. The neighbors realtor had okay pics, but not the wide angled lens. Looks like you have a great idea.
