Thankful and Sharing a Laugh

November 22nd, 2006 at 07:56 pm

Too many things to list here, without doubt, but off the top of my head these are the things I am thankful for:

* Health and happiness.
* Loved ones (blood related or otherwise).
* Finding a wonderful little house to buy and being able to do so within a month of first seeing it.
* Finding a job that I enjoy and am good at right when my severance was ending from my previous position.
* The encouraging words and continuous inspiration from this site.

OK, now that I've gotten the sappiness out of the way, time to share a laugh!

I called my mom last night regarding the rest of our Thanksgiving plans, location, etc. She and my sister have decided that TG should be where the turkey is, and the turkey is in my fridge. So, ready for the laugh?

I will be cooking the turkey when I have no oven, serving dinner for 6 when I have no dining room table, and playing hostess in a home that has no actual heat or functioning public restroom (the working toilet is in the master bath upstairs).

Laughing yet? Big Grin Glad someone is!!!

Just say no. That whole scenario is ridiculous. Tell them you got Avian flu from the turkey or something.

but did you at least laugh? cause it is comical is a "what the @#*$&" kinda way!

i've decided to grill the turkey, which actually looks pretty promising. recipes and reviews are all favorable, and my mother has grilled a turkey before with great success. DH wanted to fry it. i personally didn't want to risk burning my house down!

as for the no heat thing: we have a woodstove if needed, but tomorrow is supposed to be a high of 66 so that shouldn't be TOO much of an issue. if so, i have extra blankets to hand everyone!

only real sticking point is no table (buffet style it is), and no downstairs toilet... not sure if i can convince DH to replace a wax ring tonight or not...

have no fear, fellow savers, i will report my status tomorrow! if you don't hear from me, you may safely assume i have imploded Big Grin

Our neighbors deep fry the bird outside. Course it is going to be around 70 degrees here.....tell them that birds can fly--to their house! Good luck!

Aww, you should've suggested turkey sashimi. Then you would've gotten the last laugh! Although since you have no toilet to clean the puke... !

LOL Do your relatives know all this? Cause if they do, they will get exactly what they deserve.
